Top 10 Food Aid Donor Countries in 2005 (report from UN - WFP)

  1. United States: 4,026,382 tons
  2. EC: 623,231 tons
  3. China: 576,582 tons
  4. Japan: 402,868 tons
  5. RO Korea: 393,221 tons
  6. Canada: 275,498 tons
  7. Netherlands: 151,674 tons
  8. Australia: 151,476 tons
  9. Germany: 132,421 tons
  10. Sweden: 124,606 tons

We have come very far indeed from the great famines (an estimated 30 million peasants died becasue of hunger in the 50s).

Made it the the 3rd in exactly the same year we stopped receiving food aid is quite an achievement!
